Sustainable Finance Education Initiatives

The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) has announced the launch of the '1 Million Learners’ program to advance sustainability and sustainable finance education across the Middle East. Part of the DIFC Sustainable Finance Catalyst, this initiative aims to educate 1,000,000 people by 2030 on topics like climate change, ESG investing, and green business practices.

Backed by a coalition of 29 founding partners -- spanning finance, academia, and industry -- the program will offer courses and resources to build a skilled workforce capable of driving sustainable economic growth. The announcement, made at the Dubai FinTech Summit, reflects DIFC’s commitment to embedding environmental and social responsibility in the region’s financial ecosystem.

DIFC’s massive education push highlights the financial sector’s recognition that sustainability knowledge is now a critical asset. By upskilling one million professionals and students, this program is poised to create a pipeline of talent fluent in sustainable finance, which could attract green investment and businesses to the region.
