Futuristic Air Capture Plants
This Plant Reduces the Cost of Converting CO2 Into Purified Gas
Rahul Kalvapalle — June 11, 2018A Canadian company by the name of Carbon Engineering has unveiled plans for an innovative and high-tech air capture plant that is designed to be capable of sucking carbon dioxide out of the air in order to help reduce pollution and environmental harms.
So-called direct air capture technology is not entirely new as a concept, however most concepts have failed to see reality due to the exorbitant costs associated with setting up one of these facilities. This is what makes the Carbon Engineering air capture system so unique. Its pilot plant has proven that such plants can be operated at costs that are below $100 per metric ton of carbon dioxide, which is considered economically feasible.
By converting carbon dioxide into purified gas, this air capture plants and others like it will be able to enable the transportation sector to reduce emissions at a reasonable cost.
