This new packaging for ALDI private label wine has been debuted by the brand in the UK thanks to a partnership with Broadland Drinks that will give the alcohol product a decidedly more eco-friendly profile.

The wine packaging consists of an aluminum bottle that weighs in at 95-grams, which is reported to be 75% lighter than standard glass alternatives while still maintaining a 100% recyclable format. The weight reduction of the wine packaging also translates to transportation savings of more than five tonnes per truckload, according to the grocer. The wine itself comes in the form of the Costellore Pinot Grigio, which is priced at £5.99 and slated to hit store shelves starting April 14, 2025.

Chief Commercial Officer Julie Ashfield spoke on the ALDI private label wine packaging saying, "Our buying teams are constantly exploring ways to offer greater value and greener choices for our customers. Shoppers are looking for ways to make a difference, and we're proud to be leading the way with innovations like this aluminium wine bottle, building on our commitment to sustainable packaging."
