Recycled Pet Canisters

Berry Global and Nestlé Purina Design Recycled Pet Treat Packaging

Berry Global is partnering with Nestlé Purina PetCare to deliver a more sustainable packaging solution to the pet care aisle. Together, the companies have developed new treat canisters for Friskies Party Mix cat treats that are made entirely from recycled plastic—excluding the lid and label.

Crafted from 100% mechanically recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET), the 20oz and 30oz canisters represent Purina’s latest effort to reduce its environmental footprint while maintaining shelf appeal and product integrity. The new packaging is slated to roll out across the U.S. by mid-2025, offering consumers a more environmentally responsible option without compromising on quality or convenience.

“We believe future generations of people and pets deserve safe and healthy spaces to roam and play. That vision includes a future where none of our product packaging ends up in a landfill and where our packaging is not only recyclable but incorporates recycled content. This project is an important step toward that vision," said Nestlé Purina Expert Packaging’s Franco Ignelzi.
