Bridgestone is Introducing New Tires Made with 70% Recycled Materials
Kanesa D — May 14, 2025Bridgestone Americas has unveiled a next-generation commercial tire designed to align with the demand for sustainable alternatives. Built on the foundation of the trusted M870—known for its durability and resistance to wear in demanding urban fleet conditions—this new demonstration tire is composed of 70% recycled and renewable materials, marking a significant step toward circularity in the commercial mobility sector.
Bridgestone is positioning the new tires as a practical, near-term solution for fleet operators seeking to lower their environmental impact. Starting this month, select units will undergo field testing on waste collection trucks—an ideal proving ground for its durability and eco-credentials.
The tire incorporates a mix of responsibly sourced and circular materials, including synthetic rubber derived from butadiene and halo butyl rubber, recovered carbon black, and natural rubber sourced through sustainable practices. This innovation has earned the tire ISCC PLUS certification, a globally recognized standard for traceable and sustainable supply chains.
