Diamond Carbon Footprints
Pandora Added Carbon Footprint Labels to Its Lab-Grown Diamonds
Adam Harrie — May 11, 2026Pandora introduced carbon footprint labeling for every lab-grown diamond on pandora.net, displaying CO₂e emissions alongside the traditional cut, color, clarity and carat grades. A one-carat Pandora stone carries 12.58kg of CO₂e, about 90% lower than a mined diamond of the same size. The figure is calculated by external experts and verified by EY.
Pandora stopped using mined diamonds in 2021 and now grows all stones using 100% renewable electricity. The stones set in jewelry are made entirely from recycled silver and gold. The brand is also sharing its methodology with other jewelry makers to promote greater transparency across the sector.
Pandora shows how adding a standardized carbon label to a product as traditional as a diamond can give shoppers a more complete picture of their purchase.
