Plant-Based Lunch Containers

DNO and Eco-Products Partner for Sustainable School Lunches
Debra John — July 1, 2025DNO and Eco-Products have partnered to introduce a plant-based, compostable lunch container designed specifically for K–12 schools, combining practicality with environmental responsibility. This new container is made from molded fiber, a renewable material that is fully compostable, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional plastic and foam trays often used in school cafeterias.
Each container includes a clear, plant-based lid that securely seals meals, making them easier to store, transport, and serve. The containers are also microwave-safe and durable, capable of holding hot meals without leaking or losing structural integrity—meeting the everyday needs of school food programs.
By eliminating petroleum-based plastics and embracing compostable materials, this innovation helps schools reduce landfill waste, avoid microplastic pollution, and transition away from single-use disposables. The collaboration between DNO and Eco-Products supports a broader shift toward sustainable food service solutions in educational environments.
