Dole Food Company is making major strides in its sustainability journey by scaling up the use of Oxifilm—an innovative, 100% recyclable stretch film—across its banana and pineapple operations in Latin America. The macro-perforated, low-linear-density polyethylene film is designed to replace traditional palletizing materials such as corner boards, metal clasps, and plastic straps.

Set to roll out in late April, this eco-friendly shift is already yielding significant environmental benefits. Currently, Dole is eliminating roughly 2,200 kilograms of plastic waste per week in its banana operations and 5,280 kilograms per week in pineapples. With the expanded implementation, those numbers are projected to soar to 7,920 kilograms per week for each category, totaling over 15,800 kilograms of plastic saved weekly.

Oxifilm’s adaptable performance makes it suitable for varying production environments, streamlining logistics while helping Dole reduce both material usage and environmental impact.
