Autonomous Water Purification Systems
GENKS' Water Purification System Uses Solar Robotics & AI
Laura McQuarrie — December 3, 2025The GENKS Water Purification System is a fully autonomous solution that restores polluted water bodies into thriving, self-sustaining ecosystems.
Governments and water managers face challenges with lakes, reservoirs, and aquaculture farms impacted by pollution, algae, and declining biodiversity. Rather than resorting to toxic chemicals, heavy machinery, dredging, and sludge removal—which can be costly, labor-intensive, damaging to ecosystems, and produce inconsistent results—GENKS’ Water Purification System autonomously uses solar-powered robotics, natural photocatalytic materials (derived from discarded shellfish) and Digital Twins to cut algae levels, revive biodiversity, and reduce treatment costs to $0.8 per ton.
This system, created to make clean water more accessible, is an Honoree in the CES 2026 Innovation Awards’ Sustainability & Energy Transition category.
