The IDBio Project is an initiative supported by the Academia Partnerships Africa-France Program (PeA) that focuses on transforming biosourced wastes into sustainable resources for various industrial applications. Founded through a collaboration between Gaston Berger University in Senegal and INSA Toulouse in France, the project seeks to address challenges related to renewable resource development and waste management in Africa. It is structured around the development of a specialized academic program encompassing undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels, with a strong emphasis on applied research in sectors such as agricultural residue processing, production of biopesticides and biofertilizers from organic waste, and biomaterial design.

In addition to its academic and research components, the IDBio Project is designed to promote inter-university collaboration and international knowledge exchange. The initiative facilitates partnerships among a consortium of French and African higher education institutions, supporting joint research projects, co-supervised theses, and shared curriculum development. By integrating technical training with practical research applications, the project aims to contribute to the sustainable transformation of key sectors, including energy, food, environment, and construction. Financial support provided through the PeA program underpins these collaborative efforts, enhancing long-term capacity building and the advancement of sustainable practices.
