International Paper (IP) has successfully exceeded its goal of conserving and restoring one million acres of important forestland. This accomplishment helps protect biodiversity, improve carbon capture, and promote sustainable land management, showing the company’s strong commitment to environmental care and climate action.

In 2024, IP further strengthened its conservation efforts by "investing $15.3 million to continue working with key conservation partners like the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation." Moreover, through the Forestland Stewards Partnership, IP has supported projects aimed at restoring and protecting significant southern forestlands. This initiative earned the 2024 Leadership in Sustainability Award from the American Forest and Paper Association, recognizing IP’s collaborative approach to forest and wildlife conservation in the Southeastern U.S.

Additionally, IP works closely with the American Bird Conservancy to protect endangered bird species in the U.S. South. This partnership involves a variety of stakeholders, including landowners and local teams, and focuses on bird surveys, research, and forest management practices that are safe for birds.
