LEZÉ the Label Transforms Fishing Nets into Sustainable Pieces
Debra John — July 10, 2025LEZÉ the Label transforms abandoned fishing nets into sustainable apparel, addressing both environmental waste and the need for ethical fashion solutions. With approximately 640,000 tons of fishing gear discarded into the ocean annually, this initiative repurposes harmful marine debris into regenerated nylon, significantly reducing ecological impact.
For every 100 tons of regenerated nylon produced, the process "saves 700 barrels of crude oil, prevents 571 tons of CO₂ emissions, and lowers global warming potential by up to 80% compared to virgin nylon." This supports a circular economy by converting synthetic waste into high-quality, durable materials for everyday wear.
In addition to ocean-sourced nylon, LEZÉ incorporates corn-based fabrics derived from renewable plant resources. These materials offer a soft, breathable feel, ideal for hot weather, while reducing reliance on fossil fuels. The brand’s design philosophy merges environmental responsibility with comfort and functionality, making sustainable fashion more accessible and inclusive.
