Green Grocer Product Labels

Lidl GB has announced a new health and sustainability marker on its own-brand products. Called the 'Live Well' logo, this label is designed to help shoppers quickly spot options that are not only healthier but also better for the planet.

The Live Well logo, unlike other health labels, has a dual focus on both nutrition and sustainability. To qualify, products must meet strict nutritional standards and align with the Planetary Health Diet. This global framework promotes consuming more plant-based foods, whole grains, and vegetables while reducing reliance on resource-intensive products. Beyond nutrition, the products must also meet broader sustainability criteria, ensuring they are more environmentally friendly.

The initiative has been developed in partnership with the British Nutrition Foundation (BNF).

Shoppers can expect to see the Live Well logo appear on more than 100 products, ranging from fresh fruit and vegetables to plant-based proteins and wholegrain staples. The rollout will take place gradually, with the logo expected to be visible across UK stores within the next six months.
