loopamid Unveils a New Plant for Recycled Polyamide 6
Kanesa D — April 2, 2025Global chemical leader BASF has unveiled the world’s first commercial facility dedicated to producing Loopamid, a pioneering nylon 6 polymer derived entirely from textile waste. Designed to support circularity in the textile industry, Loopamid offers a sustainable alternative for applications in knitting, hosiery, and other fabric-based sectors.
Currently, the plant relies on industrial textile waste, including fabric offcuts, defective pieces, and cutting scraps generated during manufacturing. However, BASF has outlined plans to gradually incorporate a greater proportion of post-consumer textile waste into the production process.
“As an integral part of our Winning Ways strategy, we utilize our chemistry to develop solutions for the biggest challenges of our time. loopamid transforms textile waste into a valuable resource, helps save raw materials and closes the textile loop.”
