Mattel PlayBack Gives Used Toys a Second Life Through Plastic Recycling
Laura McQuarrie — May 11, 2021References: & mattel
Mattel PlayBack is a pilot program that will help to give used toys a second life by recycling their plastic parts into brand-new playthings. The recycling initiative has the potential to keep toys from ending up in landfills, giving families a better way to circulate toys.
Now that the program has just started, Mattel is only accepting Barbie, Matchbox, and Mega brand toys, so that the factory can appropriately sort these items and process their parts for reuse. The initiative gives people the chance to claim a free shipping label and return old toys to the company, which means that the parts will be put to good use, whether they end up creating a new toy or converted into energy.
