Eco-Friendly Seat Covers

'Monova PE' Launches as the First Fully Recyclable Laminated Seat Cover

The 'Monova PE' enhances aviation sustainability by introducing the industry’s first recyclable laminated textile seat cover. Developed through a collaboration between Studio ID, Trendworks, Sabeti Wain, and Botany Weaving, this mono-material innovation offers a closed-loop solution to a long-standing environmental issue in aircraft interiors.

Traditional seat dress covers often use laminated polyurethane foam, which prevents effective recycling. Monova PE, by contrast, replaces this with a specially engineered polyester blend. The result is a seat cover that delivers the same crease-resistant finish and visual appeal while being completely recyclable through chemical processes. These textiles can be continuously broken down, re-polymerized, and re-spun into new yarn -- mirroring the recycling potential of plastic bottles.

With hundreds of thousands of aircraft seats using laminated covers, Monova PE can potentially create a significant environmental impact at scale. The launch addresses a waste challenge and sets a new benchmark in sustainable design for the aviation industry.
