Sustainable Coffee-Made Furniture

Nestlé Professional Uses Coffee Waste to Produce New Furniture

Nestlé Professional has found a new way to make its Nescafé self-serve furniture units more sustainable. The brand is innovating by crafting its furniture offerings from recycled materials, including coffee grounds and plastic waste. The company developed a material called Nestlé Recycled Plastic Coffee Board, created from 70% plastic waste from its Tutbury factory and 30% used coffee grounds. The plastic comes from surplus Dolce Gusto pod reels, which are shredded, mixed with coffee waste, and heated to form durable panels.

Developed in partnership with UK-based manufacturer Regency, this material replaces older designs that relied on MDF, virgin plastic, and other new resources. The innovation gives production waste a second life while reducing the need for traditional materials.
