Ofi Opened a New Facility in Brazil for Sustainable Innovation
Colin Smith — May 15, 2025Ofi has inaugurated its new state‐of‐the‐art soluble coffee facility in Linhares, Espírito Santo, Brazil. Located in the heart of Brazil’s Conilon coffee region—responsible for approximately 70% of the national coffee output—the facility is designed to transform coffee beans sourced from Ofi’s local operations into premium soluble coffee products. This strategic investment enhances Ofi’s global manufacturing network, complementing its existing facilities in Spain and Vietnam, and strengthening its integrated supply chain in response to the rapidly growing global soluble coffee market.
Sustainability is a central aspect of the facility’s design and operations. The plant is powered entirely by renewable electricity and incorporates biomass boilers that convert coffee production waste into energy, thereby reducing transport emissions and lowering the overall carbon footprint. Additionally, the facility features full traceability of coffee bean sourcing and produces soluble coffee that is certified by the Rainforest Alliance. These measures align with Ofi’s “Choices for Change” sustainability strategy, supporting sustainable innovation while contributing to local economic development and reinforcing partnerships with coffee farmers.
