Organic Plant-Covered Exteriors

ParkRoyal on Pickering is a Sustainability-Forward Structure

ParkRoyal on Pickering, located in Singapore and designed by the award-winning architectural firm WOHA, stands as a landmark of sustainable urban design. The hotel features "over 15,000 square meters of greenery—about 200% of the site’s land area—achieved through plant-covered balconies, terraces, and sky gardens that wrap around the building’s exterior." This lush design allows nearly every guest room to have a garden view, blending luxury with ecological awareness.

The hotel’s sky gardens, located at every fourth level, are filled with tropical plants that provide natural shading, reduce heat absorption, and improve surrounding air quality through evaporative cooling; these features contribute to a cooler urban microclimate and lower energy usage.

ParkRoyal on Pickering also incorporates sustainable technologies, including solar panels, a rainwater harvesting system, and automated sensors that regulate energy and water consumption. As a result, the building significantly reduces its environmental footprint, serving as a model for integrating sustainability into high-rise architecture.
