Tate & Lyle and BioHarvest Sciences Created Plant-Based Materials
Kanesa D — December 12, 2024Tate & Lyle is teaming up with BioHarvest Sciences to develop plant-based molecules that meet the growing consumer demand for "affordable, nutritious, and sustainable" food and beverage ingredients.
BioHarvest’s Botanical Synthesis platform will be key to scaling the production of these beneficial ingredients. The collaboration will focus on creating botanical sweeteners that replicate sugar’s taste without the aftertaste, allowing consumers to choose healthier options when shopping or eating out. This partnership promises to provide dynamic ingredient options, reducing land and water usage compared to traditional farming methods.
“Our open innovation program is all about creating cutting-edge solutions for the food and beverage industry,” said Nick Hampton, chief executive at Tate & Lyle. “By partnering with entrepreneurial innovators like BioHarvest, we aim to disrupt the future of food for the better.”
