POSCO International Corp Aims to Work with Hydrogen Businesses
Debra John — October 23, 2024
POSCO International Corp., a subsidiary of South Korea's POSCO Holdings Inc., is actively exploring opportunities in the eco-friendly energy sector. Specifically, the company is focusing on carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), along with hydrogen-related businesses.
In a recent financial filing, POSCO International outlined its plans to incorporate CCUS technologies, as well as the manufacturing, storage, and transportation of hydrogen and its compounds into its operations. These CCUS technologies aim to capture carbon dioxide emissions for either reuse or safe underground storage, thereby helping to reduce their impact on climate change.
In addition to its CCUS initiatives, POSCO International is also expanding a natural gas storage facility in South Korea. This expansion aims to "increase its capacity to store 200,000 tons of natural gas by June." Furthermore, the company has plans to "establish driving motor core plants in Poland and Mexico this year, to boost production capacity for electric vehicle parts to 7 million units by 2030." Through these efforts, POSCO International is positioning itself as a key player in the transition to sustainable energy solutions.
