Dentsu Indonesia and Boolet Launch the 'Re-Skewer' Initiative
Kanesa D — June 12, 2025Dentsu Indonesia has teamed up with sustainability start-up Boolet to launch ‘Re-Skewer’, a creative campaign aimed at reducing the growing problem of single-use satay skewer waste in Jakarta. Combining education, upcycling, and incentive-driven participation, the initiative reimagines waste as opportunity—turning Indonesia's 15,000 tons of annual discarded skewers into practical, value-driven products.
Dentsu redefined the concept of reuse by developing a solution with real-world utility: a recyclable packaging design for charcoal briquettes made from skewer waste.
Re-Skewer is made specifically for vendors—bringing circular economy principles directly to the source of the waste and empowering Jakarta’s UMKM sector in the process.
“Re-Skewer goes beyond a recycling program—it’s a collective movement that invites vendors, consumers, and communities to reimagine waste. Our approach has always been to support the local circular economy, and with dentsu Indonesia’s strategic thinking and culturally rooted approach, we’re aiming to gradually change public behavior and support micro-businesses for the long-term," said Cindy Susanto, chief executive officer of Boolet.
