Elea Announced its 'Rio AI City' which Utilizes Renewable Energy for AI

Elea Data Centers has announced 'Rio AI City,' an eco-forward digital infrastructure hub in Rio de Janeiro’s Olympic Park. Designed to meet rising AI and cloud computing demands, the project will "deliver up to 3.2 GW of capacity—sourced entirely from renewable energy." Connected to one of the world’s most stable energy grids, the development underscores Elea’s commitment to sustainable, high-performance computing.

Beyond energy, Rio AI City is central to a broader vision of urban sustainability. Integrated with the Mata Maravilha regeneration initiative, the project will restore over 200,000 sqm through reforestation and the creation of a green digital innovation zone. The complex will host parks, cultural areas, eco-conscious residences, and public green spaces, prioritizing low-impact, multifunctional design.

Together, these efforts position Rio AI City as a global model for combining digital advancement with environmental stewardship and resilient urban ecosystems.
