Sustainable Cotton-Focused Partnerships

Soorty Boasts Agricultural Focus & Digital Traceability
Kalin Ned — April 18, 2025Soorty, a vertically integrated denim manufacturer, has significantly advanced its sustainable cotton initiatives through multiple strategic partnerships and technological innovations. The company's Organic Cotton Initiative (SOCI) has achieved recognition from the Organic Cotton Accelerator (OCA) as the first private-sector textile program in Pakistan to participate in the OCA Seed Commercialization Initiative. This agricultural focus is complemented by digital traceability enhancements, including QR-coded bales and geolocation tracking, which will provide brands and consumers with unprecedented visibility into cotton origins by late 2025.
The establishment of a dedicated Seed Integrity Laboratory reinforces quality control through climate-controlled testing of fiber purity and GMO-free verification. Soorty's eco framework extends beyond sustainable cotton to include circular production through its Second Life® recycled denim program, which repurposes post-consumer waste while reducing water and energy use by 90% compared to conventional methods. Additional collaborations with digital agriculture platform SAWIE leverage AI and remote sensing to optimize farming practices, while gender-inclusive programs aim to empower women in agricultural communities through training and digital financial tools.
