A new sustainable tourism project led by the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) is forging stronger ties between Cambodia and Vietnam while promoting eco-conscious travel. The Destination Eco-Talents (DET) programme seeks to uplift women, youth, and rural communities by providing inclusive access to tourism-related opportunities and skill development.

The program officially launched in Siem Reap during a multi-day workshop, where stakeholders focused on capacity building, vocational training, and creating environmentally friendly travel experiences rooted in local culture. The project is designed to drive long-term social and environmental impact in underserved areas by fostering education and eco-tourism expertise.

DET Centres, set to open in pilot regions like Siem Reap, will serve as community spaces that provide hands-on training, promote responsible tourism, and connect visitors with locally made goods. This initiative nurtures sustainable tourism and cultivates cross-border collaboration and economic resilience across Southeast Asia.
