Treehouse Hotel Debuts in Silicone Valley to Promote Low-Impact Living
Debra John — May 16, 2025Treehouse Hotel debuts in Silicon Valley with a fresh approach to eco-friendly hospitality, transforming a former corporate campus—and originally an orchard—into a sustainable, nature-focused retreat. Through adaptive reuse, the hotel preserved "over 120 mature trees and planted more than 300 native species, including redwoods, toyon, and redbud." As a result, the landscape honors local ecology and encourages guests to reconnect with the outdoors.
In addition, the hotel is built around principles of upcycling, biodiversity, and water conservation. Half the property is irrigated with recycled water, while moisture meters and weather sensors help reduce waste. Low-flow fixtures and refillable water stations support resource conservation and eliminate plastic use.
Furthermore, Treehouse follows zero-waste practices in its kitchens and bars, using local ingredients and composting food scraps. To minimize landfill impact, surplus food is donated through Copia. Altogether, the hotel blends comfort with environmental responsibility.
