WASP unveiled Shamballa, a pioneering open-air laboratory in Northern Italy dedicated to sustainable living through construction-scale 3D printing and ecological innovation. Scheduled to open in Spring 2026, the 8-hectare site marks the culmination of a decade-long effort to merge additive manufacturing with environmentally regenerative systems.

Shamballa is designed as a fully integrated, self-sustaining ecosystem, featuring "3D printed architecture, renewable energy infrastructure, and agroforestry-based food systems." The project reflects WASP’s ambition to demonstrate how digital fabrication can meet fundamental human needs—such as housing, nutrition, and energy—while minimizing ecological impact.

Inspired by the Tibetan myth of a utopian realm, Shamballa serves not as a retreat but as a living prototype for low-impact communities. Through its focus on circular design, resource efficiency, and climate-resilient infrastructure, Shamballa offers a compelling model for the future of eco-conscious, technology-enabled living.
