Mitsubishi and Hokuetsu Corporation Debuts a New Carbon Capture Test
Kanesa D — January 2, 2025References: mhi
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) and Hokuetsu Corporation have initiated a CO2 capture demonstration test at the Niigata Mill in Niigata City. The project aims to reduce emissions from the mill’s chemical recovery boiler, which supplies steam and electricity for paper production.
Central to the initiative is MHI’s compact 'CO2MPACT™ Mobile' system, a cutting-edge technology designed for efficient carbon capture in industrial settings. The demonstration highlights the system’s potential to directly mitigate CO2 emissions within the pulp and paper manufacturing process, offering a scalable solution for industry-wide environmental impact reduction.
If successful, the project could lead to the broader adoption of carbon capture technology in the sector, reinforcing the company's efforts to align with global sustainability goals.
