BASF introduced its new 'Reduced PCF' (rPCF) product range of engineering plastics and polyurethanes, offering customers lower product carbon footprints through the use of renewable energy in production. The launch – part of BASF’s #OurPlasticsJourney campaign – underscores the chemical giant’s commitment to a circular economy in plastics.
At a preview event, BASF highlighted how it is replacing fossil feedstocks with biomass-balanced materials and recycled inputs in products like biopolymers and specialty plastics. The company also showcased digital tools for carbon footprint tracking and recycling technologies giving waste 'a second life.' By integrating renewable electricity, recycled feedstock, and mass-balance approaches, BASF aims to cut emissions and advance plastic recyclability in diverse markets.
BASF’s launch of rPCF materials marks a significant shift in the industry toward low-carbon, sustainable inputs in manufacturing. Its focus on circular innovation and emissions reduction caters to rising customer and regulatory demands for greener plastics.
