ACCIONA and El Ganso Craft Shoes Using Recycled Windblades
Kanesa D — May 14, 2025ACCIONA Energía and Spanish fashion brand El Ganso have unveiled a new limited-edition sneaker collection that gives wind power a stylish second life. Made from recycled blades sourced from the repowering of the Tahivilla wind farm in Cádiz, Spain, the sneakers repurpose dismantled discarded parts—once destined for landfill—but also feature waterproof and stain-resistant fabric created by Spanish textile innovator Sepiia, adding functionality to their eco-conscious appeal.
Designed for both work and daily wear, the sneakers are now available through El Ganso’s website and retail stores.
The blades used in this collection come directly from ACCIONA Energía’s Tahivilla site, which is currently undergoing repowering—a process that involves replacing 98 older turbines with just 13 state-of-the-art Nordex models. This upgrade will increase the wind farm’s renewable energy output by 72%, while significantly reducing its physical footprint.
