Asahi Group's 'The Challenge' Targets Net-Zero Innovations

Asahi Group Holdings has launched The Challenge, a global sustainability initiative aimed at fostering innovation to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040. This program is part of Asahi’s broader Sustainability Growth Platform, which seeks to collaborate with startups and scaleups worldwide to develop solutions across seven key environmental themes, including sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, water conservation, and circular economy practices. The initiative is supported by Antler Ibex, the corporate innovation arm of venture capital firm Antler, providing participants with access to industry expertise, data, and specialized tools. Selected startups will have the opportunity to build strategic relationships with Asahi and its network of venture capital firms, potentially leading to commercial partnerships that drive sustainable innovation.

The Challenge reflects Asahi Group’s commitment to sustainability and its goal of reducing environmental impact across its value chain. By engaging with emerging businesses, Asahi aims to accelerate progress toward a more sustainable future while supporting startups in scaling their solutions. The initiative invites applications from companies working on sustainable transportation, product design, and new impact business models, among other areas. Participants will present their ideas to Asahi’s leadership, with the potential for long-term collaboration. This effort aligns with Asahi’s broader sustainability strategy, which includes reducing carbon emissions and enhancing resource efficiency across its operations.
