Bishkek’s new waste-to-energy plant, constructed by Hunan Junxin Environmental Protection Co. Ltd., received a pilot delivery of municipal solid waste on November 14, 2025, when 17 garbage trucks delivered 126 tons of refuse to the facility; the plant is sited at the city’s primary landfill and is scheduled to begin incineration once accumulated waste reaches 1,000 tons. The pilot event was attended by national and municipal officials, and the project’s official inauguration is planned for December 26, 2025.

The facility’s initial processing capacity is set at 1,000 tons per day with plans to scale to 3,000 tons per day, and the overall project investment is reported at $95 million. The development forms part of a broader regional expansion by the contractor, which is also building or planning similar waste-to-energy installations in other Central Asian cities, and is intended to convert municipal solid waste into electricity as part of Bishkek’s efforts to modernize waste management and increase clean-energy output.
