Braskem and Ardent to Commercialize Low-Carbon Separation Tech
Georgia Wray Norsten — June 3, 2025Braskem, a leading polyolefins producer, and Ardent Process Technologies have completed development of a breakthrough membrane technology for separating olefins and paraffins more efficiently.
After a successful multi-year pilot, the partners will roll out the Optiperm™ system commercially, marking a significant advance in plastic production efficiency. By utilizing this innovative separation process instead of traditional methods, Braskem anticipates reducing energy consumption and emissions in its petrochemical operations.
Executives note that the technology aligns with Braskem’s 2030 sustainability targets, transforming plastics manufacturing while advancing carbon-neutrality goals. The first industrial implementation is already in design, heralding a new era of greener chemical production.
This development could redefine cost and sustainability standards in the chemicals industry. By improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon footprint in olefin production, Braskem gains a competitive edge as manufacturers face rising pressure to decarbonize. The partnership exemplifies how investing in clean tech can drive innovation and market leadership, potentially prompting industry-wide adoption of greener processes in pursuit of ESG targets.
