Enterprise Products Develops CO2 Pipeline System

Enterprise Products Partners is advancing carbon capture infrastructure with its latest development of a specialized CO2 transportation network in Texas. The new pipeline system, designed to service 1PointFive's Bluebonnet sequestration hub, will facilitate the movement of captured carbon dioxide from industrial facilities near the Houston Ship Channel to permanent storage locations. This strategic infrastructure development represents a significant step forward in scaling carbon capture and storage capabilities, with the Bluebonnet hub expected to store approximately 1.2 billion metric tons of CO2 across its 55,000-acre territory.
The project, supported by $36 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Energy, demonstrates the growing commitment to developing practical carbon management solutions. By leveraging Enterprise's existing pipeline routes and midstream expertise, the network aims to provide industrial customers with reliable decarbonization options. The initiative, scheduled to become operational in 2026, showcases how traditional energy infrastructure companies are adapting their capabilities to support emerging carbon capture and storage needs.
