Element Beauty Group partnered with Oco, part of Canadian firm Carbon Upcycling Technologies, to create a carbon-captured cosmetics packaging design. The beauty packaging material made from captured CO2 and post-consumer recycled material (PCR) enhances the environmental friendliness of packaging in an industry with low recycling rates. "We're upcycling waste instead of introducing new virgin materials to the world," said Nick Gardner, co-founder of Element Beauty Group.
This sustainable packaging innovation and industry-first captured-carbon tube recently launched at Sephora with Californian makeup brand Caliray. The packaging with an upcycled plastic cap and captured carbon body boasts improved strength and durability. What's more, Caliray and Element Beauty Group are partnering with Pact Collective to streamline the recycling process via a mail-back program.
