Pristine's Cotton Bank Accepts Homegrown Organic Cotton
Kalin Ned — June 26, 2025The Cotton Bank initiative by Pristine represents an innovative circular economy model that connects consumers directly with sustainable textile production. This program allows participants to exchange homegrown organic cotton for finished products. In doing so, the initiative creates a tangible link between cultivation and consumption.
The Cotton Bank system operates through a stamp-based reward structure where contributors earn credits redeemable for various cotton goods, while simultaneously supporting Japan's domestic cotton industry revival. With seven physical locations nationwide, the project encourages hands-on participation through seed distribution, organic farming education, and product collection for recycling.
The Cotton Bank forms part of Pristine's broader 'Domestic Cotton Revival Project,' which aims to increase Japan's textile self-sufficiency from zero to 1% by 2030, with parallel goals for carbon neutrality through pesticide-free cultivation methods and partnerships with environmental organizations.
