Energy Conversion Floaters
Eco Wave Power Completes its Los Angeles Project
Debra John — August 29, 2025Eco Wave Power has successfully completed the installation of its energy conversion floaters at the Port of Los Angeles. This project demonstrates how clean energy can be generated directly from the natural motion of ocean waves, offering a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels.
The system works by attaching floating devices to existing structures, such as piers and breakwaters. As the "waves rise and fall, the floaters move hydraulic cylinders that send pressurized fluid to a land-based unit, where the energy is converted into electricity; this smart design avoids building new offshore platforms, which means there is no disruption to the seabed or marine life."
Beyond being environmentally friendly, the floaters are modular, low-maintenance, and ideal for busy coastal areas. By turning wave power into a reliable source of clean electricity, Eco Wave Power provides a practical solution for reducing carbon emissions while making better use of the ocean’s natural energy.
