Gabriela Hearst's Recycled Denim Collection is Made in Italy
Kanesa D — September 18, 2025Designer Gabriela Hearst has launched her first denim collection, crafted entirely from recycled cotton, to highlight the fashion industry’s shift toward circularity. The New York-based designer is launching four women’s styles, all made in Italy and available in striking shades like cobalt blue, golden birch, antelope orange, burnt sienna, and classic white. The colors were inspired by natural pigments shared with Hearst by filmmaker Clara Cullen, drawing from traditional Spanish house paints.
Each piece is hand-dyed using an eco-friendly process that consumes far less electricity than conventional denim production. The system also filters and reuses water at multiple stages, reducing waste while achieving the collection’s rich, distinctive hues. Highlights include the 'Willa Long Bootcut,' the 'Ezra Bootcut Cropped,' the 'Rey Straight,' and the 'Bronte' jacket.
