Eco-Friendly Foodservice Manufacturer Initiatives

The 'Green Hero Foundation,' launched by eco-conscious foodservice manufacturer Restaurantware, is taking sustainability beyond compostable packaging. Funded through customer purchases, the nonprofit initiative aims to restore ecosystems and elevate environmental literacy across the food industry and beyond.

While Restaurantware already offers over 13,000 products -- with thousands made from bamboo, sugarcane, and other renewable materials -- the Green Hero Foundation goes further by supporting reforestation, keystone species habitat restoration, and hands-on educational programs in schools. To date, over 320,000 trees have been planted in locations such as Florida, Brazil, and Kenya, with future projects planned for wolves, sea otters, and grizzly bears.

CEO Jamil Bouchareb sees it as a platform for foodservice professionals to lead with purpose. 'Green Hero lets us give back,' he said, 'supporting the systems we all depend on.'
