The new work-focused design incorporates ocean-bound recycled plastics into its construction. Each unit utilizes approximately 2.5 pounds of repurposed plastic. The material is sourced from coastal regions through the NextWave Plastics partnership. This approach to production is said to contribute to important tasks such as waste reduction and economic development in affected communities.
The redesigned and planet-conscious Herman Miller Aeron chairs maintain the original's signature ergonomic features — from the pressure-reducing 8Z Pellicle mesh to the PostureFit SL lumbar support.
Madison Seating positions these chairs as solutions for modern workplaces seeking to address both employee wellness and ecological impact. The eco-friendly iteration aligns with Herman Miller's corporate goal of 50% recycled content in products by 2030.
