Zero-Waste Bridal Capsules
OUMA Atelier and Vestige Debuted the 'Lantern Sling'
Debra John — April 7, 2026OUMA Atelier and Vestige have introduced the 'Lantern Sling' as part of a zero-waste bridal capsule, emphasizing sustainable design through material reuse and craftsmanship. Debuting during New York Bridal Fashion Week, the limited-edition collection consists of one-of-a-kind accessories created from repurposed remnants of bridal gowns, including silk organza and lace offcuts sourced from OUMA Atelier’s production process.
The collaboration reflects a broader commitment to circular fashion principles by extending the lifecycle of luxury materials that would otherwise be discarded. Each piece is designed with a minimal, sculptural form and incorporates traditional Chinese knotting techniques to create adjustable straps without the use of hardware, reducing additional material inputs while preserving artisanal methods.
Inspired by "cultural motifs such as the traditional hé bāo, the collection integrates heritage craftsmanship with contemporary sustainability practices." By transforming bridal textiles into functional, enduring accessories, the Lantern Sling presents an approach to reducing waste while maintaining aesthetic and cultural value within fashion design.
