Recyclable Crossbody Bags

FREITAG has introduced the 'Mono[PA6] Musette,' a crossbody bag that reimagines circular design through radical material simplicity. Crafted entirely from a custom-developed, water-repellent polyamide 6 (PA6), the bag is composed of just one material across all 14 components—including straps, zippers, cords, and buckles—enabling seamless recyclability.

This mono-material innovation eliminates the need for disassembly and allows the bag to be recycled repeatedly, without loss of integrity. With no suitable PA6 fabric available, FREITAG spent three years engineering one from scratch, blending performance with purpose.

Validated through collaboration with the IWK Institute for Materials Technology and Plastics Processing, the Musette exemplifies how design can meet both durability and ecological accountability. As the fashion industry grapples with claims of sustainability, FREITAG presents a tangible alternative—one that dismantles greenwashing and charts a bold path toward zero-waste, regenerative product lifecycles.
