The architectural firm Cardin Julien has completed the Espace citoyen des Confluents, a multifunctional community center in Laval, Quebec. The project integrates a library, police station, theater, and meeting areas within a design that prioritizes bioclimatic efficiency.

The multifunctional community center features carefully positioned openings and sunshades to optimize natural light while ensuring thermal comfort, and its layout is organized around a central hall that serves as a social hub that connects various functions and outdoor spaces. The landscape design, led by Projet Paysage, emphasizes ecological restoration with rain retention basins, reused materials, and native plantings to support biodiversity and reduce heat islands. The site also functions as a multimodal transit hub, promoting accessibility and active transportation through integrated bike paths, pedestrian routes, and proximity to public transit.
