Japanese research firm Green Science Alliance has created a novel nail tip glue that was derived primarily from botanical sources. The adhesive is designed to solidify when exposed to ultraviolet or LED light.

Green Science Alliance's development aligns with the company’s broader stated mission to create alternatives to synthetic, petroleum-based materials across various sectors by utilizing sustainable plant biomass. Its plant-based nail tip glue is presented as a more sustainable option within the nail cosmetics sector, with a reported biological content ranging from 22 to 30 percent. The company contrasts its product with conventional glues, often based on cyanoacrylate, which can be associated with adverse effects such as skin irritation, allergic reactions, or heat generation during curing.

In addition to the plant-based nail tip glue, Green Science Alliance has been expanding its sustainable solution to other product categories like "plant-based nail polish, water-based organic nail polish with nail strengthening ingredients, 100 % plant-based nail polish remover, and thinner."
