Alternative Adhesive Material Adoptions

Kiilto Switches to Biobased Raw Materials for Adhesives

Kiilto is prioritizing sustainable manufacturing by integrating biobased and recycled-carbon raw materials into its wood adhesives. These innovative formulas help significantly reduce emissions, allowing the company to cut the carbon footprint of its D3-class PVAc adhesives by up to 25% compared to fossil-based alternatives.

Commonly used in the production of doors, flooring, cabinetry, and shelving, Kiilto’s adhesives now offer a lower-impact option without compromising performance.

The company’s efforts extend beyond its Vinyl Acetate ECO-B range, with ongoing research into plant-based ingredients such as hemicellulose, lignin, and cellulose.

“Every PVAc wood adhesive now contains a proportion of biobased materials, certified through the ISCC+ system, which ensures traceability of recycled and bio-based feedstocks without physical segregation," said Kiilto's RDI Manager Jukka Jokela.
