Inclusive Ocean Initiatives

ECO Canada has launched Ocean Alliance Canada (OAC), a new national initiative focused on building a stronger and more sustainable ocean economy. As the importance of ocean health, climate resilience, and innovation continues to grow, this alliance brings together partners from across the country to support long-term solutions for Canada's marine environment.

Led by ECO Canada, which "serves as both Chair and Secretariat, OAC includes a wide range of participants—from Indigenous leaders and coastal communities to educators, nonprofits, industry experts, and government representatives." By working together, these groups aim to "improve workforce development, elevate Indigenous leadership, and align policies that impact oceans."

In bringing diverse voices to the table, Ocean Alliance Canada promotes inclusivity and shared responsibility. Ultimately, this initiative helps ensure that Canada’s ocean sector is better connected, more adaptable, and prepared to meet the environmental and economic challenges of the future.
