Reconomy is Opening a New Hub for Sustainable Innovation in Romania

Reconomy has inaugurated CircuLab, a new sustainability research innovation hub in Bucharest, Romania, supported by an initial investment of approximately GBP 1 million. The facility is designed to advance the company’s circular economy initiatives by focusing on sustainability, environmental science, resource management, and chemistry. It aims to develop new use cases, propositions, and methodologies that facilitate waste reduction, resource conservation, and improved circularity practices for its customers, while also enhancing Reconomy’s overall sustainability reporting and operations.

The hub operates in close alignment with Reconomy’s broader strategy to address global circularity challenges, including narrowing the gap between resource use and resource regeneration. Developed under the guidance of the company’s sustainability leads and headed operationally by its Chief Development Officer of Reconomy’s Combineering brand, CircuLab serves as a collaborative platform. The official launch included participation from notable figures in Romania’s business and academic communities, underlining the facility’s role in fostering partnerships that support sustainability and circular economy advancements.
