Redwood Materials has entered into an exclusive partnership with Lime, aiming to manage its end-of-life battery recycling process in a more sustainable fashion. As a result of the deal, Redwood will extract and recover critical materials from expired lithium-ion batteries, including lithium, cobalt, nickel, and copper. Approximately 95% of these valuable elements are expected to be reclaimed and reintroduced into the battery supply chain — a move that not only reduces environmental impact but also enhances long-term material resilience for the EV and micromobility industries.

“As e-bike and e-scooter adoption continues to grow, so does the need to responsibly recycle the batteries that power them,” said Alexis Georgeson, Redwood’s vice president of government relations and communications. “These batteries contain valuable critical minerals that, when recovered and reused, can help build a more sustainable and resilient domestic battery supply chain.”
