Hemp Refining Processes

Renaissance Fiber Receives an Investment to Scale Hemp Refinement

Renaissance Fiber (RF), the first U.S. company making hemp fiber for textiles, has received a $75,000 investment from Equilibrium Impact Ventures (EQIV). This funding will help build a new refining facility in Mocksville, North Carolina, where U.S.-grown hemp will be processed using RF’s clean, chemical-free methods. The goal is to turn hemp into a high-quality fiber that can be blended with cotton and used in existing textile machinery.

Traditionally, refining hemp—especially short-staple varieties—has been difficult, often requiring harsh chemicals that harm workers and the environment. RF’s process avoids these issues by using a safe, efficient method that controls fiber length, texture, and quality.

This breakthrough makes it possible to produce hemp textiles at scale in the U.S. and helps create a transparent supply chain from American farms to finished garments. The investment marks a key step toward making hemp a practical, sustainable option for the textile industry.
