Hygiene-Grade Sustainable Wools

Woolchemy Creates Hygiene Products Using neweFiber Sheep Wool

A New Zealand-based mother-daughter duo is transforming the hygiene industry with sheep wool. Their Wellington-founded company, Woolchemy, specializes in neweFibre—the world’s first hygiene-grade wool. This proprietary innovation serves as the foundation for neweFlex, a versatile, high-performance material designed for use in nappies, feminine hygiene, and incontinence products. Each product incorporates roughly one gram of strong wool blended with plant-based fibers, creating a soft, absorbent, and fully compostable alternative to synthetic materials.

Certified 100% biobased by Beta Analytic, neweFibre mimics the structure of human skin, thanks to wool’s natural keratin proteins. Sourced exclusively from ethical New Zealand farms practicing regenerative grazing and low-input farming, the wool contributes to a circular supply chain that supports both people and planet.
